NEWSQUEST MEDIA GROUP LAUNCHES ONLINE PRINTABLE COUPON GALLERY ENABLING CUSTOMERS TO SAVE MONEY AT THE SUPERMARKET

8th August, 2007

Newsquest Media Group adopts CouponNET™ platform from Couponstar across London sites to provide money saving offers to their online customer base.

Couponstar, Newsquest, the second-largest newspaper publisher group, has announced the launch of its online printable coupon gallery that enables visitors to seven of their London sites to benefit from a range of money saving coupon offers. The coupon gallery has been developed and is being hosted by digital marketing services provider, Couponstar, and can be accessed within the navigation bar.

By taking advantage of Couponstar’s CouponNET™ network, a ‘white label’ platform for distributing coupons and vouchers via the Internet, Newsquest can provide its customers with the latest coupon offers online for traditional in-store redemption at leading supermarkets such as Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury and Morrisons. Current coupons available on the Newsquest sites include offers from brands such as Ocean Spray, Pedigree, Whiskas, Weight Watchers and Tate & Lyle.

As market leaders in the consumer-printable coupon industry, Couponstar’s technology is unique in providing advertisers with a proven solution to securely and efficiently issue personalised and trackable coupons via the internet, critically bridging the gap between online marketing and consumers’ offline purchasing behaviour. And, with typical redemption rates of 20% plus – significantly higher than industry averages – Couponstar’s CouponNETTM network can help brands cost effectively acquire new customers and drive in-store sales.

Commenting on the publisher partnership between Newsquest and Couponstar, Eddie Embleton, Regional Digital & Display Manager at Newsquest, said, “Although CouponNET is currently only live across seven sites around the North London area the Newsquest Group is very excited by the prospects that this new initiative presents. Forecasts for revenue and traffic generation are exceptionally impressive, and early indications are that we are well on track to achieving the benchmarks we have set.”
Following the successful roll out across the seven London sites Newsquest hope to launch the gallery across the whole of the Newsquest network.

Embleton continues, “Both an online and offline campaign has been prepared to drive our readers and users directly to the appropriate coupon galleries, with the print element specifically aimed at driving traffic to our website and turning our readers into users. As such, the CouponNET platform offers a win-win scenario for all involved – Our readers become more qualified users and for their efforts they receive money off their grocery shopping. From a revenue generating perspective: we can help major brands to promote their products through our website and sell more, and we both take a share of the revenues. As our user base continues to grow so will the revenue opportunities.”

Jared Keen, Managing Director of Couponstar commented “This represents our first step into the newspaper publishing world and further consolidates our position as the UK’s leading printable coupon provider in terms of both content and reach. It has been a pleasure to work with Newsquest, and we look forward to developing the relationship further.”
